All I want for Christmas is to wake up and be skinny without having to diet or exercise. Such is the dream for millions of Americans and if it were possible, there would be no plastic surgeons, no gyms, no workout tapes, no Biggest Loser, no Slim Fast. An entire industry would be non-existent if weight loss were only that simple and that easy. Unfortunately for us it’s not that easy. Weight loss requires a lot of hard work, dedication, motivation, and understanding of how the body moves and operates. So if you want to lose weight you are going to need to understand these things for yourself. There is one principal that every person wanting to lose weight and stay in shape must understand: in order to lose weight you must use more calories than you consume. That means that whatever you eat, whether its something from the Nutrisystem Diet or the Vegetarian Diet, you must exercise and burn up more calories than you consumes in that meal.
The good new is that diets like Nutrisystem, Medifast, Atkins, South Beach, etc… are portion controlled and optimized for you to receive the best nutrition, the best flavor, with the least calories. Say, for example you ate 1000 calories on a particular day. Then you would need to burn 100o calories or more to be in good shape. Now you do naturally burn calories just by walking, talking , breathing, and digesting food; so if you burned 500 calories naturally, then you’d have 500 left ot burn. 2o minutes on the Tony Little Gazelle and 40 minutes on an elliptical trainer machine would easily burn 500+ calories. So if all you want for Christmas is to lose weight, you now have the key to doing it!

You remember the song “Blue Christmas” by Elvis Presley don’t you? Well you’ll be having a Blue Christmas this year yourself if you don’t stop eating all those sweets and get back onto your diet and exercise routine. The holidays always have people in the mood to quit their good habits and settle for bad ones right before they make their New Year’s Resolutions to be good once more. And before you know it they’re quitting those too! So just stop right there. Put that piece of pie down and get back into the swing of things. Just because Christmas is around the corner doesn’t mean you have to lose the entire month of December to bad habits. First and foremost, get back to your workout routine. Clear the dust off of your Bowflex Treadclimber and start using it again. You know the routine, you need to be doing at least 30 minutes a day. If you can push past 40 minutes, you’ll really be in good shape.
Next, clear the cob webs from off of your Weslo Treadmills and get to running. The faster you can run the better. Intervals of fast, slow, fast, slow will work great as well. In fact, that’s the best way to do things. So don’t let the holidays slow you down. Have a Sweaty Christmas!

Christmas is the one time of year that we spend trying to find the perfect gifts for the ones we love. It’s not like a finding a gift for a birthday, because usually there is only one birthday person and therefore one gift to find. Christmas involves finding multiple gifts for mulitple people all at the same time. We often times get caught up in the hustle and bustle of Christmas, trying to make more money so we can buy more stuff for other people, that we rarely remember to take a moment for ourselves. When is the last time you heard someone telling you about what they bought for themselves for Christmas? It’s probably been a while if at all. When’s the last time you bought yourself something for Christmas? Really. Well, this year make a change and do something nice for yourself, and there is not better gift for yourself than the gift of good health. Get in the best shape of your life with a few special gifts for your health. You can start by getting yourself some of those Bodylastics that workout your entire body and give you the good scultping that you need.
You might also consider investing in another hot item, the Ab Rocket. It is geared toward getting that muscle tone in your stomach just right. So this year, get something extra for yourself. Make an investment in your health so that you can enjoy many, many Christmases to come in the best health of your life!

Okay so we know that Thanksgiving is all about the food, as was mentioned in a previous post. However, that is not going to keep us from giving you the facts. Take them for what they are worth, but don’t let them keep you from enjoying your Thanksgiving Day meal. #1: Potatoes. Potatoes may be delicious in your mouth, but they are the quickest and easiest way to lay on the pounds. Potatoes are starchy and don’t give you that much nutritional value. #2: Cornbread anything. Cornbread is another one of those starchy items that will have you fatter than fat in no time flat. The only problem is that cornbread is what a lot of people use to stuff the turkey with so how you are going to avoid eating it is unclear. #3: Cookies. Unless you are on the Cookie Diet, you do not need to eat lots of cookies on thanksgiving. Sugar is a no no on Thanksgiving especially since you aren’t likely to do anything to burn the calories that sugar creates.
#4: Soda. Soda is one of the worst things you can put into your body and for some reason people think that Thanksgiving Day is the perfect time to cram 5 or 6 sodas down their throats in one afternoon. Not ok! Soda is packed full of sugar! It’s diabetes waiting to happen. So If you don’t want to be on a Diabetic Diet, don’t do it.

Thanksgiving is just about 2 and 1/2 weeks away and people are already beginning to get ready for the food fest that is going to take place on that day. Truth be told, there is nothing overly healthy about this day. People are going to be eating all kinds of stuff all day long: turkey, dressings, mashed potatoes, gravy, yams, corn on the cob, green beans, casseroles, pumpkin pies, sweet potato pies, and more. Not to mention the beverages of every kind that are going to be had on this spectacular day dedicated to family and food. The only working out that will be going on won’t be on a Freemotion treadmill or on Bowflex machine, it will be a working out of the mouth and men and women alike sit around the dinner table, around the television screen for the big football game, and in the kitchen chatting about every topic imaginable.
In fact, the healthiest part about Thanksgiving Day has nothing to do with food, with diet or exercise. The healthiest part of Thanksgiving is the fact that it’s a day spent with family and friends. It’s a day spent in the company of those we love and care about most. It’s a day to sit back and relax, to break bread in good company, to socialize and enjoy being with the most important people in the world. So take a day off from a healthy physical lifestyle on Thanksgiving day. Don’t do any workouts on your Total Gym. Enjoy the gifts God has given us. Happy Thanksgiving!
